I caught a train in Sydney once. I had a broken foot. I stood on one leg for 50 minutes. No one offered up their seat. No one even made eye contact with me.
My question: Are good manners gone for good?
Transperth have just launched a campaign aimed at re-educating commuters in the lost art of politeness.
Rude and annoying behaviour – including talking too loudly or hogging a seat – will be targeted in a new comic book-style campaign known as Two Hoots.
But of course, the most effective long term campaign lies with us – parents need to get all ‘old school’ and teach our kids some good, old fashioned manners. If someone with a broken foot gets on a train, I want my kids to be the first to stand up.
